Digital Diagnostic Monitoring

Use Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) to monitor laser operating characteristics such as temperature, voltage, current, and power. This feature works at any time during active laser operation without affecting data traffic.

The following optical transceivers support DDM:

A Digital Diagnostic Interface (DDI) is an interface that supports DDM. These devices provide real-time monitoring of individual DDI transceivers. The DDM software provides warnings or alarms after the temperature, voltage, laser bias current, transmitter power or receiver power fall outside of vendor-specified thresholds during initialization.
